While we are working on a long-term initiative for veteran support programs, we need to acknowledge the current needs of civil society in Ukraine. That’s why we are raising funds for a ‘rapid response’ campaign, that can make a difference for citizens of Ukraine here and now.

The continued full-scale invasion means that there’s an urgent need for humanitarian aid in most of the country, as well as a means of securing transportation of said aid. Once we’ve raised enough funds, we will deliver vans and supplies to Lviv, from where volunteers of YMCA Lviv can distrubute the supplies further into the country.

To ensure the transportation of emergency supplies to veterans and civilians in need across Ukraine, we are collecting funds for 3 vans.

To furnish recreational hubs for veterans, we are collecting furniture, TV-screens, pool tables, and table tennis sets to create welcoming environments where veterans can find comfort and camaraderie.

As part of the “Voices of Warriors”-program, we aim to fund the publication of books, sharing the inspiring stories of the veterans who’ve chosen to share .

While there currently is a shelter some distance from YMCA Lviv’s current location, establishing another one closer means the capacity for more civilians. In case of an air bombardment Families and children hosted at YMCA Lviv, would be able to reach safety in a shelter quicker.

Due to the constant risk of bombardment or the fighting reaching further into the country, we want to provide helmets, safety vests, and tourniquets to safeguard our volunteers, and potentially save civillians during emergency situations.

Our volunteers need proper protective equipment, when supplies throughout the country.

We have internal rules in place, that require any volunteer driving to high-risk areas, to wear bulletproof vests and helmets. Additionally, they are required to bring tourniquets with them, in case of emergency situations, where they may be wounded.

Supply hand and feet warmers, heating blankets, and other essentials to keep veterans and their families warm and comfortable, especially during harsh winters.

We also wish to present Holiday Baskets filled with books, toys, and other goods for children and families of veterans, bringing much a needed experience of comfort during the holiday season.

Depending on which season our goal is reached in, the basket will contain Christmas or Easter themed goods and messages.

YMCA Lviv has previous experience of printing comics featuring drawings by children of Ukraine.

Writing and drawing has been shown to be an effective way, for war-affected children to process and express their thoughts and experiences. Support and receive a copy.

To ensure continuous power supply for crucial operations, we are collecting funds for powerstations and generators. These are vital for keeping communication lines open, medical equipment running, and maintaining a stable power source in areas affected by outages due to the war.

Providing powerstations and generators will support both civilians and veterans in emergency situations, ensuring they have access to essential services and support during blackouts. Your contribution can help keep critical infrastructure functional and provide a sense of security and stability in these challenging times

We are working toward establishing recreational space near military training bases. The hubs will serve as recreational spaces for soldiers in training that need secure setting to unwind. These are the first steps towards establishing relations and introducing the concept of soldier homes.
