Publishing “Voices of Warriors” books

As part of the ‘Voices of Warriors’ program, YMCA Lviv helped develop a series of comic books that narrate the experiences of female war volunteers who served on the frontlines. These comic books capture the profound transformation in the lives of these volunteers before, during, and after the full-scale invasion.

The creation of these stories was facilitated through psychologist-led creativity sessions, providing a therapeutic outlet for the war-volunteers to process their experiences. This innovative approach to rehabilitation combines the power of storytelling and art therapy, fostering personal and psychological development among the participants.

By forming a dedicated program team consisting of renowned writers, editors, publishing agency representatives, and PR specialists, we ensure that these narratives are meticulously crafted, translated, and published in Ukrainian, Danish, and English. This collaborative effort allows us to share these impactful stories with a broader audience, promoting a deeper understanding of the veteran experience globally.’

The ‘Voices of Warriors’ program is not just about storytelling; it is a comprehensive rehabilitation effort that addresses the emotional, psychological, social, economic, and cultural aspects of recovery. Our preliminary results show that programs like this can play a crucial role in helping veterans transition to civilian life with dignity and support, significantly contributing to the well-being of civil society.
