Printed comic books by kids

YMCA Lviv have previously published a comic, based on a course they hosted for children under the title “Ukrainian superhero. Create your character”. The comic book was created based on the theme of superheroes. Participating children were encouraged to draw their interpretation of a superhero that could protect them from evil. Many of the children expressed that no imaginary hero had enough power to help them, so they often chose real people from the army as their superheroes. Kids from areas closer to the frontlines often depicted more realistic and graphic situations compared to those from areas further away from the conflict. These comics reflect the harsh realities faced by these children and their resilience in finding strength and heroism in real-life figures.

That’s why we are also fundraising for more courses for children the printing and publishing of new comic books. By bringing these powerful stories to life, we aim to provide the children with a meaningful way to process their experiences and emotions. The funds will support the production of these comic books, enabling us to offer a therapeutic outlet for the children’s creativity. As part of the course YMCA Lviv held an exhibition of the children’s work at the Youth Art and Education Center. We are deeply grateful for the continued support from YMCA Europe and all our partners who help us create these vital opportunities for our children.
